Gastrophilum

Description

Gastrophilum is a vegetable ethanolic extract of rapid action. It is used as a special food additive for different diseases of stomach and duodenum, as well as other pathologies of digestive apparatus and allied diseases.
Trade name: Gastrophilum.

Pharmaceutical form: drops.

Composition of the vegetable extract: water mint, great morel, common St. John’s wort, common licorice, centaury, fennel and other components.

Pharmacological effect: relaxes unstriated muscles tone; possesses stimulant effect on reparative processes; improves intestinal motility; regulates gastric juice acidity; intensifies reflex gastric juice production; intensifies hydrochloric acid secretion; increases appetite; possesses antiemetic action; displays moderate hypotensive and sedative effect; eliminates coronary spasm in chronic coronary deficiency; reflexively widens coronary vessels; stimulates heart activity and relieves headaches; stimulates respiratory center; possesses styptic and diuretic effect; intensifies mammal glands secretion.

Indications: for gastritis with hypo- and normal secretion of the stomach; constipations, chronic constipations and intestinal colic, intestinal spasms, dyspepsia, stomach atony and wind; spasms of unstriated muscles of abdominal cavity organs; peptic and duodenal ulcers, water and mineral disbolism, acute and chronic enteritis, colitis of non-bacterial etiology; gall bladder calculi, jaundice, cholecystitis, biliary dyskinesia, hepatitis, hepatic colic; pancreatic diabetes. Other uses: to improve peristalsis of digestive tract organs, increase secretion of the stomach gland apparatus, improve digestion, intensification of granulation and secretion of digestive tract glands, intensification of pancreas function and increase of appetite; as a cholagogic, antidiarrheal, coating and light laxative, disinfecting means; as a subsidiary remedy for bacterial intestinal diseases; dysentery (in reconvalescence period).
Tincture is used for stenocardia, migraine, neuralgia, insomnia; for hypertonic disease, atherosclerosis,  kidney diseases, bronchial asthma; recommended for functional disturbances of vegetative nervous system with blood circulation disturbance, allergies, irritability, neurogenic upset of menstruation and potency, climacteric disturbances; for catarrhal conditions; for uterine bleeding, anemia; for alcoholism treatment; for flues, chronic coronary deficiency accompanied by coronary spasm; for arthrosis, rachitis, convulsions.
Special warnings: individual intolerance to the components of the preparation.

Administration: to be administered on doctor’s recommendations.

Dosage and method of administration: administered to children and adults on the individual basis. Recommended dose for adults and children over 14 – 5 drops to be taken neat or in 30 ml of still non-mineral water 30 min before meals; children under 14 take 3 drops a time. Treatment duration is 2-8 weeks. As a supporting therapy, the treatment is to be administered two times a year – in August and February, before possible exacerbation of peptic and duodenal ulcers.
