Description
Holiphilum is a vegetable ethanolic extract used as a special food additive for liver, gall bladder and bile passages diseases.
Trade name: Holiphilum.
Pharmaceutical form: drops.
Composition of the vegetable extract: cotton thistle, field holly, lady’s purse, maize, sunflower, nettle, sandy everlasting.
Pharmacological effect: the extract promotes bile outflow, relieves stress on liver parenchyma, subdues bleedings, reduces inflammatory phenomena, improves overall functional condition of the liver; has spasmolytic, haemostatic, sedative and hypotensive action; promotes carbohydrate and lipid exchange; reduces the blood levels of glucose, lactic and pyruvic acids, cholesterol and overall lipids; normalizes protein metabolism indexes; increases secretion of bile, gastric and pancreatic juice; tones up gall bladder and promotes bile outflow; provides spasmolytic action on unstriated muscles of the gall bladder and biliary tracts sphincters; changes viscosity and chemical composition of bile by raising cholato-cholesterol factor. The extraction stimulates secretion of gastric digestive enzymes while inhibiting evacuative function of stomach and bowels; promotes better digestion; activates exocrinous activity of pancreas by making antiseptic effect on unstriated muscles of intestinal walls; dilates bowels blood vessels; displays hypocholesteremic action; possesses antibacterial properties; heightens antiparasitic action of metrondasol (trichopol) and aminochinol in lambliasis treatment (complex use).
Indications: пfor biliary system diseases (cholecystitis, cholangitis, cholelithiasis, biliary dyskinesia; as a means to improve biliary ducts drenage and provide mechanical excretion of harmful substances and inflammation products; liver diseases; after acute hepatitis of different etiology with the aim to boost functional activity of liver cells and to ensure a quick excretion of metabolism toxic products, infectious and harmful toxins; for slow digestion, irregular appetite, digestive hormones deficiency; wind, diarrhea, gastric bleedings, especially those caused by overdose of indirect anticoagulants; atherosclerosis, impaired lipometabolism, obesity, pancreatic diabetes, ischemic heart disease; ascitis, anuria, amenorrhea, uerine bleedings in pre-menopausal period; pyelonephritis, thyrotoxicosis; in lambliasis treatment the preparation is used in combination with other anti-lambliasis medications and oxygen therapy. Holiphil is used as a hypolipidemic remedy promoting bile-based excretion of cholesterol and its antecedents.

Administration: to be administered on doctor’s recommendations
Dosage and method of administration: the preparation is to be administered to children and adults on individual basis. Average daily dose is 15 drops 3 times a day to be taken neat or in 30 ml of still non-mineral water 30 min before meals. Treatment duration – from 10 days to 3-4 months – is to be determined by the doctor.
